At the end of the first quarter on Sunday, it seemed like the Lions were in for a dogfight with the 1-5 Tennessee Titans as it was all tied at 14 early in the second quarter. But, that changed quickly.
The Lions went on to score 38 unanswered points thanks to timely turnovers forced by the defense and spectacular special teams play thanks to Kalif Raymond.
Jared Goff and the Lions offense were electric once again. Goff led the way with three touchdown passes. The lions were once again efficient in the red zone going five for five.
The Lions became the third team since 1941 to have a punt return of over 90 yards and a kickoff return of more than 70 yards in a game per ESPN.
The Lions have been recently leaning on MVP candidate Jared Goff a lot lately but the Lions had more points than he had passing yards at one point during the game thanks to the defense forcing turnovers and the special teams setting up the offense with terrific field position via kick returns. Goff finished the day 12 of 15 for 85 yards.
Ben Johnson also had the trick plays ready once again. David Montgomery threw a touchdown pass to Sam Laporta to give the Lions their highest scoring half since 1970 by scoring 35 points in the first half.
The Lions beat the Titans 52-14 and improve to 6-1 on the season. Their best start since 1956. A big test awaits though, this week the Lions head to Lambeau to take on the Green Bay Packers for a key NFC North battle.
