From Face of the Franchise to the Boss, Giants name Buster Posey President of Baseball Operations

After another disappointing season, another year of missing the playoffs, the firing of Farhan Zaidi felt inevitable. But, who his replacement would be was a big question mark until an hour after the Giants parted ways with Zaidi.

Team chairman Greg Johnson announced that three time World Series Champion, Buster Posey was hired to lead the franchise he once played with. Posey joined the team’s ownership group in 2022 less than a year after he had decided to retire.

“We are looking for someone who can define, direct  and lead this franchise’s baseball philosophy and we feel that Buster is the perfect fit. Buster has the demeanor, intelligence and drive to do this job, and we are confident that he and Bob Melvin will work together to bring back winning baseball to San Francisco.” Johnson said in a statement.

Posey now assumes the task of trying to get the Giants back to the postseason, which they have missed the last three seasons.
